Nakayama Town Piano
Rules & Manners of the Piano Use
Can anyone play?
YES, anyone can play. From beginners to professionals, those who wish to play the piano, please line up and take seats when your turn comes.
Please follow the etiquettes of mutual respect and enjoy playing music together.
Can anyone listen to the performance?
YES, everyone is welcome. When listening, please do not block the aisles for people walking by, and do not stand on the yellow blocks. Please listen quietly and do not throw money or anything.
Can I play other instruments or sing?
NO. Sorry. You can play ONLY this piano here.
When can I play?
From 10:00 to 19:00 on days when the piano keys are OPENED.
You cannot play during events or maintenance, so please check the schedule on the official website (QR code below).
I'm worried about being called "NOISY."
There is an audio information board a short distance away for people who are disabled in sight.
If somebody measures your sound in front of the audio information board, which is constantly under 80dB, you don't need to worry about the sound level.
Sometimes "Piano Keeper" ( GREEN LABEL members) will measure the volume.
You can also measure it with an application software on your smartphone.
You can find a variety of applications in the Online Application Market.
Rules of keeping Silent Period ( a concessionary manner )
Since we are at a part of the public area in the train station, we have a 3-minute break time (no sound) for every 10 minutes of performance.
Please observe this cycle of "10 minutes performance → 3 minutes rest" as one set, even if the player changes, and please use it in a concessionary manner. (Example 1)
Flow of performance
(1) Each player (group) should play for no more than 10 minutes.
(2) The keyboard is wiped dry, the lid is closed. Leave there and make the chairs vacated.
(3) 3 minutes of rest time (no sound)
(4) The next player (group) shall play within 10 minutes.
◎If there is no next player, the same player may play a second time.
◎After the second performance, wait 10 minutes. If there is still no next player, the same player may play up to two times. The same player (group) may play up to 4 times. (Example 2) Total of 40 minutes.
Please set up for filming or recording during the 3-minute break or waiting time.
Please obtain the performers' consent before jumping in and playing together during a performance.
Even if there are more performers, the performance time (within 10 minutes) will not change.
*Do not place anything on the piano other than music scores (including smartphones/tablets).
(except for the installed sand-hourglasses).
Do not open the piano's top lid, front door, or bottom door.
*Do not use wet wipes containing alcohol as they will damage the piano.

The "Nakayama Town Piano" is set up and operated by GREEN LABEL, a voluntary organization in Midori Ward, with a volunteer management committee.
We hope that through music experiences, connections between people who have become estranged due to the Corona Pandemic will be restored, and love for the local community will grow.
This piano was donated by an endorser. It is more than 40 years old since its manufacture, so please take good care of it.
We hope the piano's music will bring many smiles to everyone who loves this town.
Special Thanks to
